What Is Manual Therapy?

Manual therapy refers to the “hands-on” treatment of under performing muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. Encompassing a broad group of techniques performed by trained physical therapists, manual therapy treatments may include moving the joints in specific directions to regain movement (joint mobilizations), muscle stretching, passive movements and movements designed to improve muscle activation. Specific soft tissue techniques are also used to improve the mobility and functioning of tissues, nerves, and muscles.

Benefits of Joint Mobilization

Orthopedic manual physical therapists treat acute and chronic pain conditions affecting all areas of the body. • Neck pain (muscle spasm, disc problems, etc.)
  • Lower back pain (disc problems, facet joint restriction, spinal stenosis, etc.)
  • Thoracic spine pain (disc problems, rib restriction, etc.)

  • Knee pain (iliotibial band syndrome, patellofemoral dysfunction, total knee replacement, etc.)

What Our Clients Say

The PT’s and PA’s have been superb at getting me back to normal.

This has been the best experience at any physical therapy clinic I have ever been to. I have been to other PT facilities and this has easily been the best. The PT’s and PA’s have been superb at getting me back to where I was before my sciatic issues. I have no pain traveling down my leg that was preventing me from getting a good night’s sleep and doing normal activities around the house and work.

I wouldn’t have recovered without it.

When I started physical therapy my herniated disc prevented me from walking without a limp. I could not sit down without extreme pain in my lower back and down my left leg. The sciatic pain could be felt all the way down to my toes. The only comfort I found was lying on my stomach. I started seeing progress here after about 4 weeks. I suffered a setback at about 6 weeks and started to lose hope. Shortly after the setback I recovered quickly and made a full recovery. The sciatica is fully gone. I lived with the pain for 3 months before starting PT and now I know I wouldn’t have recovered without it. Thank you to the whole team.
