Gait and Stair Training
in Franklin, MA
At your first appointment, your Physical Therapist will perform a thorough evaluation and develop a personalized rehabilitation treatment program with you that may include Gait and Stair Training.
What is Gait Training?
Gait training is a type of physical therapy that helps people improve their ability to stand and walk. One goal of gait training is preventing falls. Gait training may be recommended after an illness, surgery, or injury or even to help a patient regain independence in walking. Gait training works to strengthen the muscles and joints in the lower body and back. As a result, patients will improve balance, improve posture, develop muscle memory, build endurance, and prepare the legs for repetitive motion. Gait Training also includes stair training, and instruction in the safe use of assistive devices such as canes, crutches, and walkers.
Benefits of Gait Training:
Gait training improves ability to stand, walk and even run by including activities to strengthen muscles and joints, improve posture and balance, build endurance, retrain legs for repetitive motion, and develop muscle memory.

What Our Clients Say
First, I thought it wouldn’t work… Just on the first visit, Dr. Patt changed my opinion. First, I thought it wouldn’t work and I would just be spending money. I only wanted to try because of my doctor. Just on the first visit, Dr. Patt changed my opinion. His motivation to become a PT Doctor encouraged me! Long walks or standing for a long time were my big troubles that I wasn’t happy about at all. Now, I feel very confident and comfortable. I’m walking and standing. It used to feel like both my legs were not symmetrical but now they are. I liked the process, procedure, and methods here. I am coming back for my neck issues. Thank you so much, guys. You people are doing a great job! I can now hold my 8-month old daughter comfortably. I have needed surgery since 2009. Last year, my shoulder really started bugging me when writing notes on the board while teaching math. I finally broke down and went to the orthopedic Dr. He suggested PT. after about 8-10 weeks, I felt a lot better, but I still knew my shoulder had tears and needed surgical repair. (injections only helped a little) After surgery, ProPt welcomed me back with open arms and really pushed me to get better. Today, I write on the board with no pain and can hold my 8-month old daughter comfortably.
